The Korean drama "Still Shining" has faced backlash for depicting drinking and driving

The Korean drama "Still Shining" has drawn significant criticism due to depictions of drunk driving in episodes 7 and 8, which aired on the 27th. The controversy centers around character Yeon Tae-seo, portrayed by Park Jin-young, who is shown receiving alcohol from his grandfather and then driving a car. In episode 8, Bae Seong-chan, played by Shin Jae-ha, drives under the influence in the early morning hours, driven by jealousy after Yeon Tae-seo visits his ex-girlfriend, Mo Eun-a (Kim Min-ju), following a drinking session.

Following the airing of these episodes, a viewer lodged a formal complaint via the National Petition System on the 29th. In response, the Korea Communications Standards Commission has announced plans to review the complaint for potential agenda inclusion. The production team of "Still Shining" acknowledged the backlash and expressed commitment to addressing the concerns raised, vowing to take extra precautions to prevent similar portrayals in future episodes.
