Jin, the group's eldest member, is enlisting in the military today (the 13th).
Jin entered a recruit training center in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province, on the 13th, and after five weeks of training, he will be assigned to his own unit and fulfill his military duty.
Jin was born in December 1992 and is now 31 years old (30 years old). In accordance with the Military Service Act, which was revised in 2020, the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism recommended that he postpone his enlistment, and his enlistment was postponed until the end of this year.
The issue of members enlisting in the military had a significant social impact during the process. While BTS helped raise the global profile of K-pop, the issue of equity was raised because pop culture artists were not included in the current Military Service Act's specialties in the arts and sports fields.
In the midst of the controversy surrounding BTS' alternative service, Big Hit Music, the management company, abruptly cancelled Jin's enlistment postponement last October and announced plans for the members to enlist sequentially. Simultaneously, he stated his future plans, saying, "We and the members hope for BTS' activities in general around 2025."
Jin's release date is set for June 12, 2024.
